What we collect

Nothing on our servers. ynab-helper has no backend operated by darkwork.dev. All data lives either on your Android device or inside your own YNAB account.

SMS and notifications

• SMS are read on-device only via Android system permissions you explicitly grant.
• If you enable the notification listener, the app can also read bank messages from apps such as Viber — still on the device only.
• Parsed amount, merchant, account and date are used to create YNAB transactions.
• Full message text is stored in the local app database so you can review and retry imports. It is never uploaded to darkwork.dev.

YNAB account access

• You authenticate with YNAB through the official YNAB OAuth flow.
• The OAuth access token is stored locally on your device (encrypted on supported Android versions) and used only to call the official YNAB API at api.ynab.com.
• You can revoke access at any time from your YNAB account settings.

Other network requests

• Optional currency conversion fetches public exchange rates from open.er-api.com (currency codes only — not SMS content).
• Google Play in-app updates contact Google Play when you check for a new version.
• Parsing runs on the device (including optional on-device ML). Google ML Kit may download model files from Google; SMS text is not sent to darkwork.dev.

Backups and logs

• Android Auto Backup does not include SMS history or YNAB tokens.
• You may export parser rules and non-secret settings to a file you choose. That file does not include the YNAB token or SMS bodies.
• Optional debug logging is off by default and stays on the device. Turn it on only when diagnosing a problem.

Analytics & tracking

ynab-helper contains no third-party analytics, advertising or tracking SDKs.

Data deletion

To delete all data, uninstall the app from your Android device and revoke the ynab-helper authorization in your YNAB account settings. Exported backup files you saved yourself must be deleted separately.
